What is OCIS?
The school district offers OCIS (Off Campus Independent Study) for Physical Education to assist athletes with their training schedules by allowing the student to take their Physical Education class at their training facility.
OCIS is not an SCB sponsored program, it is run completely by the school district and SCB has no power or administrative involvement other than providing the documentation needed from us.
The responsibility to complete applications on time falls solely on the student (and their family).
SCB can help with questions regarding our own academy program and provide documentation needed to supplement the application. SCB WILL NOT COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM FOR YOU! (Email Abigail (SCB academy manager) aotto@southerncaliforniaballet.org if you have any questions)
Southern California Ballet DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR DANCERS SCHOOL, nor do we know the qualifications for each school, this is up to the dancer and their family to communicate with the schools, and ensure all qualifications are met.
When do I need to apply for OCIS?
The OCIS timeline can be found on the PUSD website. In previous years the application has been released in January and must be completed by early March.
Remember! Plan ahead and complete your application as early possible so that any problems can be resolved with enough time!
